Claims that Russia is supplying Pakistan with advanced RD-93MA engines for its JF-17 Thunder Block III fighter jets have created a political storm in India. The issue has sparked a heated exchange of words between the country's two major political parties, the Congress and the BJP. Senior Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh has directly attacked the Modi government over these claims. He alleged that if Russia, once India's "most trusted strategic partner," is now supplying advanced engines to Pakistan, it is clearly a diplomatic failure on the part of the Modi government. In his statement, Jairam Ramesh demanded answers from the current government. He said, "The Modi government should explain why Russia, once our most trusted partner, is now helping Pakistan. This is the same engine that will be installed in the JF-17 Block III, an advanced version of the aircraft that used PL-15 missiles against India during Operation Sindoor." Questions Raised on S-400 and Su-57 Jairam Ramesh also questioned India's continued negotiations with Russia for the S-400 missile system and Su-57 stealth fighter despite this deal. According to him, this situation reflects the failure of the government's image-driven diplomacy, where the country's security interests are being put at stake. BJP Counterattack - Lies and Pro-Pakistan Propaganda Countering the Congress's allegations, BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya categorically rejected them. Malviya clarified that Russia has categorically rejected all claims of supplying engines to Pakistan. In his X-post, Amit Malviya accused Jairam Ramesh of "spreading lies" and relying on news from an "unreputed website." Malviya wrote, "Jairam Ramesh has relied on a news item published on an unreputable website known for spreading pro-Pakistan propaganda. No official confirmation, no credible source, just another false information." The BJP spokesperson accused the Congress party of adopting an irresponsible attitude towards national security. He said that by repeatedly spreading such rumors, the Congress party is siding with the enemy instead of serving the national interest, and described such actions as "part of an information war." How did this controversy begin? The entire controversy began with a news report claiming that Russia's Rosoboronexport had supplied RD-93MA engines to Pakistan. This engine is considered the backbone of the latest and advanced Block III version of the JF-17 Thunder fighter jet. However, no official Russian source has yet confirmed the supply of engines to Pakistan.
