UNESCO announced on Saturday that the ancient Buddhist site at Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh, is being included in the World Heritage List. Located approximately 10 kilometers from Varanasi, this site holds deep significance due to its association with the life of Gautama Buddha. The decision was made during the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held in Busan, South Korea. Notably, this marks the 45th Indian site to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Prime Minister Modi expressed his happiness over this decision.
