SIR after 22 years, special revision of voter list completed in Bihar
The Election Commission on Tuesday released the voter list under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections. The Election Commission will soon release the details of the data. The Election Commission published the final electoral roll on September 30, 2025, based on the SIR.

SIR after 22 years
The Election Commission has revised the voter list in Bihar under the SIR after a gap of nearly 22 years. Following the completion of the SIR, the Commission published the final voter list on Tuesday. The Election Commission released draft voter lists on August 1st. Claims and objections from individuals and political parties were subsequently received until September 1st. The draft list contains 7.24 crore voters.
In light of the Election Commission's directive, the final voter list for all 14 Assembly constituencies in Patna district was published today as part of the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls 2025, based on the eligibility date of 01.07.2025. According to this, the total number of voters is 4,815,294, which is 163,600 more than the total number of voters included in the draft list of 4,651,694 published on August 01, 2025. The District Election Officer-cum-District Magistrate, Patna, expressed satisfaction over the significant increase in the number of voters and appealed to all stakeholders for active participation in the upcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly General Elections 2025.
When will the election date be announced?
According to sources, the Election Commission is expected to announce the dates for the Bihar Assembly elections next week. The Election Commission will visit Patna on October 4 and 5 to review the election preparations.
