Women use contraceptive pills to prevent unwanted pregnancies. Researchers have found that women who use pills containing both estrogen and progestogen hormones have a higher risk of cryptogenic stroke. Cryptogenic stroke occurs due to blood clots in the blood vessels supplying the brain. They stated that nearly 40% of strokes in women are cryptogenic ischemic strokes.
