The Right to Education Does Not Entitle One to a Seat in a School of Their Choice: Delhi High Court
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has clarified that while children possess the fundamental 'Right to Education,' this does not imply a corresponding right to choose a specific school for their studies. The Court stated that individuals do not have the right to demand a seat in a particular, designated school, noting that such demands do not fall within the purview of the Right to Education Act. This clarification was issued by the Bench while dismissing a petition that sought the allocation of a seat in a private school under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota.
