The department said it is likely to turn into a pressure area over the south-west and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal region during the next 36 hours. Due to its effect, light to moderate rain may occur in Odisha. IMD said, "Thunderstorm with strong wind speed of 30 to 40 km per hour is likely at one or two places over Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Boudh, Kandhamal, Raigarh, Koraput and Malkangiri till 8.30 am on Wednesday." Heavy rain in Tamil Nadu also Heavy rain is likely over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, with the weather department predicting heavy rain over the Ghats areas of Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Erode, Tiruppur, Theni and Tenkasi districts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. It is likely to move north-westwards and concentrate as a depression over central parts of the Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours," the bulletin said. Wind speed reaching 35 to 45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely along South Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar and Comorin area. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea.
