A short circuit caused a fire in a Jhunjhunu businessman's shop, averting major losses.
Alappuzha (Kerala): Five persons have been arrested for attacking two police officers deployed at a temple here to ensure law and order during Diwali celebrations. Police gave this information on Tuesday. A case has been registered against the accused under the Indian Judicial Code for using violence to prevent public servants from performing their duties.

The incident took place around 10 pm on Monday night when two police officers tried to stop some allegedly intoxicated youth from creating ruckus in the temple. An official of Kuthiyathode police station said that the youths beat up the police officers. Later more policemen reached the spot and the accused were taken into custody. He said that the policemen suffered minor injuries in the attack and are now fine.

According to the information, Jhajhar resident businessman Ramnivas Saini had returned home after closing his Anushka departmental store at around 7:20 pm after Diwali worship. After some time, there was a short circuit in the electrical wires in the shop. Seeing the smoke rising, the neighbors immediately tried to extinguish the fire at their level by breaking the lock of the shop and, showing great wisdom, stopped the fire from spreading to the nearby shops.
