Defending champion Germany has retained the Men's Hockey World Cup title. In the final held on Sunday, Germany defeated Spain 1-0. Struthof scored the only goal of the match in the 44th minute. By clinching the World Cup for the fourth time, Germany equaled the record held by Pakistan (4 titles) for the most wins. Adopting a purely defensive strategy in the final quarter, Germany held onto its lead to be crowned world champions for the second consecutive time. Meanwhile, in the bronze medal match, Argentina defeated the Netherlands 2-1.
