Hydrogen-Powered... Chug-Chug!
The stage is set for the country's first hydrogen-powered train to hit the tracks! As part of an initiative to introduce an eco-friendly and sustainable transportation system, Indian Railways has taken a significant step forward. The Railway Department has approved the introduction of this train on the Jind-Sonipat section in Haryana. Unlike conventional trains, this one will operate as a single integrated unit comprising 10 coaches, similar to a Metro train. Powered by a 1,200-kilowatt hydrogen fuel cell propulsion system, the train boasts a maximum speed of 75 kilometers per hour.
