FIPIC Foreign Ministers Meeting: India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar hosted a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Forum for Indo-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC). Happy to note that the 12-point action plan announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the FIPIC-III Summit is progressing well." He added, "India and Pacific Island countries are development partners. Our agenda is people-centric and focuses on health, technology, capacity building, and training." It is a platform that unites India and Pacific Island countries for mutual cooperation, development, and partnership. Small island countries, with their immense strategic and geographical importance, open doors to new opportunities and partnerships for India. When was FIPIC launched? FIPIC was launched in 2014 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Its first summit, held in Fiji, emphasized mutual cooperation between India and the Pacific Islands. The forum comprises 14 Pacific Island countries, including Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu, and others. Its objective is to enhance political cooperation between India and the island countries, as well as to foster partnerships in areas such as education, health, agriculture, energy, and technology.
