Remembering Jan Sangh Founder on Antyodaya Day
Antyodaya Day is being celebrated across the country today. Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya's birthday is celebrated as Antyodaya Day. Antyodaya Day was first celebrated in 2014. After the Narendra Modi government came to power, the decision was made to celebrate Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya's birthday as Antyodaya Day. Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya's vision was dedicated to the upliftment of the last person. His vision focused on the needs of the last person in society. He always advocated for the upliftment of the underprivileged.
Indeed, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya was the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and a political thinker. He believed in the welfare of even the last person, ensuring the welfare of those who are unable to access the benefits of social programs, and establishing social equality. Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya's mantra was the upliftment of the last person. The Bharatiya Janata Party is now working tirelessly to carry forward his mission. In this context, his birthday is celebrated as Antyodaya Day.
What is the significance of Antyodaya Day?
Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya coined the slogan of Antyodaya. Antyodaya means ensuring the upliftment and development of the last person in society. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya said that no country can develop by cutting itself off from its roots. We must understand Indian nationalism, Hindu nationalism, and Indian culture. It is because of this vision of Deen Dayal that his birth anniversary (September 25) is celebrated as Antyodaya Day. On September 25, 2014, on the occasion of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya's 98th birth anniversary, the Modi government announced that his birth anniversary would be celebrated as 'Antyodaya Day'.
Life of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya
Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya was born on September 25, 1916, in Nagla Chandrabhan village of Mathura district. His parents died when he was a child. After his studies, Deen Dayal joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and spent his life as a propagator of the Sangh. He was one of the founding members of the Jan Sangh. When the first session of the Jan Sangh was held in Kanpur in 1952, Deen Dayal became the General Secretary of this party. Out of the 15 resolutions passed in this session, 7 were presented by Deen Dayal Upadhyay. During this, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee had said that if I get two Deen Dayals, I will change the map of Indian politics. He also became the President of the Jan Sangh in December 1967. He was assassinated at Mughalsarai station on the night of 10/11 February 1968.
