Loss of wealth of Rs 2 lakh 71 crore
Mumbai: Domestic equity indices suffered heavy losses on Tuesday due to profit-taking by investors and withdrawal of foreign institutional investments in the wake of weak signals from international markets. The Sensex fell by 519.34 points to 83,459.15, while the Nifty lost 165.70 points to end at 25,597.65. The total market value of BSE-listed companies, which are considered the wealth of the equity community, fell by Rs 2.71 lakh crore to Rs 469.80 lakh crore.
