Maharashtra: VHP initiative in Nagpur, making Varaha avatar worship mandatory before entering Garba pandals
Maharashtra: On the initiative of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), pictures of Lord Vishnu's 'Varaha Avatar' have been placed at the entrances of Garba pandals in Nagpur. Everyone entering these pandals is allowed inside only after worshipping and seeing these pictures.
Pictures at the Entrances
Rajkumar Sharma, Vidarbha head of the VHP's Dharma Prasar Department, stated that this step was taken to prevent non-Hindus from entering Garba pandals. He added that wearing a tilak on the forehead and wearing a protective thread is mandatory for entry into the pandals.
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad believes this initiative is aimed at preventing love jihad. They say that placing pictures of the Varaha Avatar will ensure that only Hindus enter the pandals. Several VHP officials are also present at the pandals to monitor this arrangement. About the 'Varaha Avatar'
It should be noted that the 'Varaha Avatar' is one of the ten main incarnations of Lord Vishnu. 'Varaha' means wild boar. It is believed that he took this incarnation to save the earth. According to legend, Hiranyaksha, a powerful demon, lifted the earth and hid it at the bottom of the deep ocean. Lord Vishnu then assumed the gigantic form of Varaha. He fought the demon, defeated him, and lifted the earth on his sharp tusks and returned it to its rightful place.
