A massive earthquake has struck the Chinese-controlled region of Tibet. The tremors, which registered a magnitude of 7.0 on the Richter scale, caused significant destruction. China’s official news agency, Xinhua, reported that 16 people have lost their lives, and 32 others have sustained injuries. It is reported that 11 of the injured are in critical condition. The earthquake occurred in the Nagqu city area, in the northern part of Tibet. The tremors struck at 10:33 PM local time on Thursday night.
