The Centre has introduced a bill to amend the relevant law, imposing stringent punishments on those involved in irregularities such as the leaking of question papers. Union Minister Jitendra Singh introduced the bill, titled the 'Public Examinations (Amendment) Bill, 2026', in the Lok Sabha on Monday. Under this bill, those involved in paper leaks face a prison term ranging from a minimum of five years to a maximum of ten years, along with a fine of ₹50 lakh. Those involved in organized crime face a minimum of seven years in prison and a fine of up to ₹10 crore.
