Soaring Prices!
Both retail inflation and wholesale price-based inflation rose this August. Driven by a hike in the prices of onions and other food items, retail inflation based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) climbed to 4.82 percent in August, up from 4.45 percent in July. Meanwhile, inflation based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) rose to 9.92 percent last month, fueled by price increases in food, fuel, electricity, and manufactured products.
