Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the 9th two-day National Security Strategy Conference-2026 in New Delhi. More than 850 participants from across the country attended the conference. **Issues discussed on the first day** Discussions on the first day focused on terrorism, intelligence coordination, illegal infiltration, cybercrime, narcotics, and Pakistan's proxy war. Amit Shah directed that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for addressing national security challenges be formulated using AI-based analysis of information available on the Multi-Agency Centre (MAC) platform. Emphasis was also placed on integrated investigations in UAPA cases, the extradition of fugitives, and the use of 'trial in absentia'. Instructions were issued to all agencies to take stringent measures against infiltration. **Issues to be discussed on the second day** Discussions on the second day will cover drone/sub-aerial systems, the security of the blue economy, information warfare, and bio-security. **Why was Amit Shah recently in the news?** Prior to this, Union Home Minister Amit Shah made headlines when he posted on 'X' about dismantling the ISI-backed terror group 'Shahzad Bhatti Network'. Regarding this operation, he stated, "Before Independence Day, the Modi government dismantled the ISI-backed terror group 'Shahzad Bhatti Network' and thwarted its plans for dangerous attacks by arresting over 200 members." Shah explained, "Indian security forces dismantled this network by conducting simultaneous operations across various locations in 14 states; this serves as a prime example of India's 'zero-tolerance' policy towards terrorism." Shah further noted, "A large quantity of material was recovered from this ISI-funded group, including IEDs, grenades bearing Pakistan Ordnance Factory markings, pistols, live ammunition, and CCTV cameras used for surveillance. The network was involved in numerous terrorist activities." It is worth noting that the Modi government maintains a 'zero-tolerance' policy regarding terrorism. Since the Modi government came to power, a large number of terrorists and their networks have been eliminated across the country, and this drive is ongoing. Prior to this, Shah had also made headlines when he lavished praise on NSA Ajit Doval. Doval had received the Lokmanya Tilak Award, and Amit Shah remarked that he had played a pivotal role in strengthening the nation's security.
