The Legend Behind Ramakrishna Teertham
According to the Skanda Purana, in ancient times, a sage named Ramakrishna performed rigorous penance on the Venkatadri mountains. He created this sacred pond for his daily ablutions. He lived there and meditated on Lord Vishnu. Pleased with the sage's devotion, the Lord appeared before him and granted him salvation. That is why this pond is named after him. Another legend says that there are idols of Rama and Krishna in this place, hence it is called 'Ramakrishna Teertham'.
