Theaters to Shut Down from May 1st?
It appears that theater exhibitors in the Telangana (Nizam) region are planning to shut down single-screen theaters starting May 1st. Reports suggest this move is being considered after producers rejected a proposed "percentage-based" revenue-sharing model. Industry talk indicates that the Film Chamber has issued a clear ultimatum: they will only screen movies if revenue is distributed according to this new model, and they expect a definitive decision to be reached by the 30th of this month. Recently, the managements of 23 theaters collectively decided to implement this percentage-based system as a replacement for the traditional fixed-rental model.
