₹32,000 Crores Required for Polavaram Phase II
Amaravati: The State Government has estimated that ₹32,000 crores are required to complete the second phase of the Polavaram project. A report to this effect has been prepared. Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad—who also holds charge of the Water Resources Department—is scheduled to submit this report to V.L. Kantha Rao, Secretary of the Department of Water Resources (Jal Shakti), in Delhi on May 1st. Notably, the Central Government itself had originally designed the project and formulated the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for its construction, envisioning a dam height of 45.72 meters and a storage capacity of 194.6 TMC.
