Investigation underway into murder related to land dispute in Hasayan police station area
The body of an elderly man was recovered from a tubewell on his farm in the Hasayan police station area of Hathras district, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday. Police suspect he may have been murdered.
When he did not return home...
According to police, Prempal (64), a resident of village Nagla Patri, went to the tubewell on his farm as usual on Sunday morning. When he did not return home by evening, his family went to check on him. Prempal was found dead on a cot, with marks of a rope or wire around his neck.
Family informed the police
The family immediately informed the police. Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem.
Circle Officer (CO) J.N. Asthana confirmed the incident, stating that elderly Prempal was found dead near his tubewell. The CO said, "No complaint has been received yet. However, murder is suspected because of the visible marks on his neck."
Land dispute suspected
CO J.N. Asthana also stated that preliminary information suggests that the deceased Prempal was involved in a land dispute with his brothers. Police say they are awaiting the post-mortem report and a written complaint from the family. Based on the report and complaint, further legal action will be taken in the case and efforts will be made to solve the murder mystery.
