Khamenei's funeral rites begin
The funeral rites for Iran's former Supreme Leader Khamenei began on Saturday. Khamenei and several of his family members were killed in joint US-Israel strikes this February. Due to wartime conditions, Khamenei's funeral had not been held until now. In accordance with Islamic customs—and without the application of any chemicals—the Iranian government preserved Khamenei's body in cold storage for nearly four months, with the approval of religious leaders.
