Record-Level Crude Oil Production in the Thar Desert
Oil India Limited has significantly ramped up crude oil extraction in the Thar Desert region of Rajasthan. The company achieved a record daily production of 1,202 barrels from the Baghewala field. This represents a 70% increase compared to last year's output (705 barrels per day). The extracted crude oil is transported via tankers to refineries located in Gujarat. Oil reserves in the Baghewala region span an area of 200 square kilometers. In the fiscal year 2026 (FY26), a total of 43,773 metric tonnes of oil were produced.
